The match began with Sunrisers Eastern Cape winning the toss and opting to bat first against Durban Super Giants, a decision that worked in their favor.

Batting first, SEC posted a competitive total of 165/5, built around key contributions from Zak Crawley (38 off 29 balls), Tom Abell (57 off 39 balls), and a late cameo from Marco Jansen (36* off 26 balls). The Sunrisers' innings benefitted from steady partnerships, with the top order holding firm against the Durban Super Giants' bowlers.

Despite strong efforts from the DSG bowlers, including a solid performance from Noor Ahmad, who claimed four wickets, SEC managed to post a challenging total.

Meanwhile, South Korea were knocked out by the defending champions, India, with a 1-4 defeat in the semi-final. In their pool stage encounter, South Korea had previously played to a 2-2 draw against their next opponent, Pakistan.

Ahmad caused major trouble for the Sunrisers' top order, but the innings from Abell and Jansen were key to setting a competitive target.

For Durban Super Giants, openers Matthew Breetzke and Bryce Parsons got off to a promising start, but a sudden collapse followed. The wickets began to tumble quickly, with Parsons' run out, and both Kane Williamson and Heinrich Klaasen dismissed cheaply.

Quinton de Kock and Wiaan Mulder tried to steady the ship, but the required run rate soared, and the asking rate proved too steep.

SEC’s spinners, including Liam Dawson and Simon Harmerdiamond game, effectively sealed the win as they cleaned up the lower order, dismissing DSG for just 107 in 18.1 overs.
